Security forces shot dead at least three supporters of the deposed Egyptian President today as thousands took to the streets across the country chanting “Down with military rule”.
The Muslim Brotherhood’s “Friday of rage” was marred by chaotic scenes of bloodshed as Islamists rallied against what they describe as a military coup.
An angry crowd tried to march on Cairo barracks where ousted Mohamed Morsi is being held by the
military that overthrew him but were dispersed by troops.

At least three demonstrators were killed while another witness said he saw several people fall to the ground, wounded by shotgun pellets.
In the Suez city of Ismailia, soldiers fired into the air as Morsi supporters tried to break into the governor's office before retreating. Clashes were feared as the country’s new liberal coalition called for its supporters to take to the streets in response to Islamist protests.

Twenty-one people were wounded in Damanhour near Alexandria in fighting between factions, with the local hospital reporting injuries from bullets, birdshot and rocks.
Hoda Ghaneya, a leading figure in the Brotherhood's Freedom and Justice Party (FJP) political arm, said she was ready to sacrifice herself to the cause.
She said: “We will die not as a sacrifice for Morsi, but so the Egyptian people recover their freedom.”

Meanwhile, a state of emergency has been declared in Suez and South Sinai provinces after gunmen fired rocket-propelled grenades at army checkpoints guarding an airport and attacked a police station.
Morsi – Egypt’s first democratically-elected leader – was ousted on Wednesday night in what many have branded a military coup following mass unrest.
